JV Red beats River City, falls to Del Oro in Inderkum title game

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman forwards Sofia Rabinovitz and Giuliana Del Guerra each scored goals in a 2-0 win over River City in Saturday's early-morning contest, but the St. Francis junior varsity Red squad found itself on the losing end of a 2-0 battle in the JV championship game of the Inderkum Tournament.

The Troubadours' youngest squad suffers its first loss of the year, slipping to 7-1-1 for the year. All four opponents in the tourney were junior varsity teams.

Goalkeeper Maggie Buffleben was the team's tournament MVP, according to head coach Robert Vela. She recorded nine saves in Friday night's 0-0 draw with Chico, then added another 10 in the Saturday morning win over River City. Buffleben then tallied a whopping 16 stops in the finale with the Golden Eagles.

St. Francis held DOHS scoreless in the first half before allowing the two scores after the break. Meanwhile, the Trouble offense had its opportunities, but shot just 0-for-8.
