Alumnae Myers and LaRocco Return to Sacramento for NCAA Regionals

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Northern Arizona's Miranda Myers '15 and Portland's Lauren LaRocco '14 returned to Sacramento for the NCAA West Regional Preliminaries Thursday at Hornet Stadium on the Sacramento State campus.

"It is really exciting but it is all setting in this is my last track meet here in Sacramento," said Myers. "I am glad to have done it here in the hometown with family and friends. I am really lucky to have made it here."

Myers, who has one season of cross country eligibility remaining, finished 33rd overall in 35:03.26 in the 10,000 meters. She joined former teammate LaRocco in the field. The Portland redshirt senior was 29th in 34:51.94.

"It was awesome see her when we were warming up on the practice track and thinking of all the good old times working out on the two-lane track," said Myers. "It made me feel at home and gave me some excitement and strength in run this race."

Myers will graduate next May in early education after completing her career in Flagstaff next fall. She hopes to lead the Lumberjacks back to the NCAA Championships.

LaRocco, the 2014 Delta League Runner of the Year for the Troubadours, has earned seven All-America honors for the Pilots, including recently in the 5000 meters during the 2019 indoor season. She was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team. She has a 3.72 GPA in Biomedical Engineering.
