SACRAMENTO, Calif - Sophomore Reyna Johnson is the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for the week of March 25-April 1. Johnson broke the school record for the 100-meter hurdles twice this weekend at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto.

Johnson won her heat of the 100m hurdles during the prelims in 14.72 and broke a 15 year old school record by Tifani Grimes.  Grimes ran 14.82 to set the record in 2004. Prior to it being broken, it was one of the three longest standing school records. Johnson ran again in the finals and reset her record to 14.64. Johnson was also a part of the 4x100 relay team, along with teammates Serena Shimada, Chanel Grimes, and Izzy Grazzel. The team ran 49.29 breaking their season record, and then ran again in the final in 49.62, placing fifth.

"Holding the 100m hurdle record is thrilling," said Johnson. "I want to continue breaking my records. Being at Stanford was the best thing I could have asked for, I was determined to run low 14s and I did. I just want to continue improving with the support of my friends, running even lower 14s is the goal at the moment. I'm so excited for the 100m hurdles in Arcadia. The competition in Southern California is supposed to be huge. I want to be able to go up against more girls that are better than I am."

The St. Francis track and field team will have their last home meet and celebrate senior night, April 3 at 3:30 at Jesuit High School.
