Basketball Opens with 40-point Win over Benicia

STOCKTON, Calif. – Senior Nika Bagatelos led the team with 17 points as St. Francis opened the 2018-19 season with a 62-22 win over Benicia in the opening game of the Lady Vike Classic Tournament at Edision High School.

The Troubadours opened the game with a 17-2 run to take control of the game in the first quarter. Bagatelos had eight points including two of her five three pointers in the first. The SF attack slowed to nine points in the second with Megan Austin contributing four of her six points to help psuh the lead to 26-7.

After halftime, the Troubadours broke out with a 22-point quarter as junior Mia Fleming-Mullins scored all 11 of her points and Bagatelos added two more triples to build the lead to 48-14.

Junior Jasmine Lee took over the scoring in the fourth, knocking nine three three-pointers to finish with 11 points.

Senior Lauren Pank had eight points a team-best seven assists, while Ally Gage added five assists with a team-high six rebounds and Gabi Lopez dished out three.

St. Francis will play Christian Brothers in the semifinals on Friday night at 8 p.m. The Falcons defeated Pleasant Grove 71-39 in their opening game.
