SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis freshman volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the Carmichael Invitational Tournament of Champions Saturday before losing to Oak Ridge in a close match 25-23, 25-23.
The Troubies advanced to the semifinals with opening pool play wins over Woodcreek (25-23, 25-12) and North Tahoe (25-3, 25-10). SF then defeated Vista 25-17, 25-16 and took down Tokay in the quarterfinals 25-12, 25-17.
The semifinals loss came to Oak Ridge team that owns two of the three victories over St. Francis this season as they enter the final two weeks with a 19-3 overall record. They finished fifth at the Stockton Invitational earlier this season.
They have three games remaining starting with Sheldon on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
