SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Susanna Graciano had a hat trick to lead the St. Francis JV Red Soccer team to an 8-1 win over Lincoln on Friday at St. Francis. The Troubadours improved to 8-0-1 on the season.
"It felt really good because it is such a heart-warming feeling when I score a goal," said Graciano after the win. "My whole team comes up to me after a goal and makes me feel so loved. I love this team so much."
Graciano had three goals and an assist in the win after recording four goals over her first seven games. It was her first career hat trick and second multi-goal game of the season.
"It is a confidence booster for everyone," said Graciano. "I think it is going to be a great season."
Sophomore Arianna Del Guerra opened the scoring with the first goal of the game. Graciano followed with her first goal to extend the lead to 2-0. The Zeybras scored to pull within 2-1 but Kayla Escalante found the net with four minutes left in the half for a 3-1 halftime lead.
The Troubies scored five more unanswered goals in the second half. Graciano scored her second in the 48th minute. Freshman Lauren Scofield scored her second goal of the season to push the lead to 4-1.
Graciano completed the hat trick in the 62nd minute. "My mind just went completely blank and I just smiled," recalled Graciano. "I was thinking, "Wow, I just did that."
Olivia Lozano scored her first career goal and Cameron Kirby added her second of the season to complete the scoring.
St. Francis will play Lincoln JV on Thursday, January 9 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Francis.
