Troubie LAX to host Bella Vista in SJS opener

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis earned the No. 3 seed and will host Bella Vista in the first round of the second-annual Sac-Joaquin Section girls' lacrosse championship tournament, the section office announced Friday. The opener for the eight-team bracket will take place at Mather Sports Complex on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Troubadours finished the 2025 regular season with a 10-4 record, both overall and in Sierra Foothill League play. They tied for third in their first year in that league, matching fellow first-year member Davis. Oak Ridge (13-1) and Del Oro (11-3) claimed the top two spots in the SFL standings and the SJS bracket.

Offensively, junior Keira Miles leads SF with 56 goals, fourth in school history, while senior Karly Okamoto paces the team with 35 assists to go with 23 goals. Senior Zia Smith (40-10-50), senior Olivia Hamm (14-22-36) and junior Jade Abalateo (11-1-12) also enter the postseason with double-digit goals. Hamm also heads the Troubies in ground balls (34) while ranking third behind Z. Smith (55) and Miles (42) in draw controls, while junior defender Sara Ellis leads her squad with 22 caused turnovers.

Bella Vista closed out the regular season with a 16-1 record, 13-1 in the Capital Valley Conference, with a split against Vista Del Lago marking the lone loss. Sophomore Julia Thomas and Regan Silvers provide a 1-2 scoring punch with 67 and 56 goals, respectively, with Thomas also leading the Broncos in the three "hustle stats": 76 ground balls, 61 draw controls and 10 steals.

The SFL holds the top four seeds in the tournament: No. 1 Oak Ridge, No. 2 Del Oro, No. 3 St. Francis and No. 4 Davis, with the CVC holding the next four: No. 5 Vista, No. 6 Bella Vista, No. 7 Woodcreek and No. 8 Christian Brothers. Woodcreek will also host the championship game on May 3.
