    Despite the tired and recurring joke, no, the sport of water polo has nothing to do with horses. While most water polo players have likely heard some version of that turn of phrase, few people have mastered the difference between the aquatic and the equine like St. Francis senior Laura “L.K.” Holliday, who completed her prep career on the Troubadours water polo team, and is about to sign her National Letter of Intent to complete for the equestrian program at nearby UC Davis.

    As St. Francis basketball begins its 2022 postseason run this week, the number of opportunites for sisters Oge and Chidera Okoye to share the basketball court will become fewer. The two sisters have relished the chance to see the other play from the best possible vantage point.

    Senior tennis player Bianca Ariza was named the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for play Sept. 8-15after a stellar week leading the tennis team to the Northern California Team and posting a 5-0 overall individual record.
  • April 20, 2019
    Junior Emma Peters was named the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for the week of April 8-15. Peters led the team with a second-place finish in the 200y freestyle and third place in the 100y butterfly at the Delta League Championship finals. She clocked a personal-best 1:54.20 in the 200y free dropping 4.41 seconds from the prelims and 59.67 in the 100y fly. She will swim both events at the sections.

    Sophomore Reyna Johnson is the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for the week of March 25-April 1. Johnson broke the school record for the 100-meter hurdles twice this weekend at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto.
  • March 29, 2019
    Sophomore lacrosse player Sophia Gorona was named the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for the week of March 17-23, 2019. Gorona scored two goals and had three assists on Friday against Gunn High School where the team won 14-4. Saturday, Gorona scored eight goals and had an assist for the Troubies against Castilleja in Palo Alto. She led the team to a 14-10 win, playing a major role in the Troubie's undefeated weekend in Palo Alto.

    Freshman Hope Jenkins is the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for March 10-17, 2019. Jenkins pitched seven innings for St. Francis, leading them into a 2-0 shutout against Davis Friday afternoon during their first Delta League game. Jenkins struck out 11 Blue Devils, had no walks during the game and kept the game scoreless for the Troubies.

    Sophomore Johnson won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.08 and the long jump 17-2 Saturday at the track and field Title IX Invitational at American River College. Johnson also ran the 100 meters in the sprint medley relay that helped the team win in 1:55.63.
  • February 27, 2019
    Freshman Cate Joaquin is the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for week of Feb. 17-24, 2019. Joaquin won the 1600 meters at the Pitman Distance Wars on Friday night. She helped the Troubies win the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 12:38.54, the fourth best time in St. Francis history.

    Senior soccer player Jackie Koerwitz is the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week. She led the Troubie soccer team to a victory Tuesday night against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras. After coming back from an injury mid-season, Koerwitz has scored eight goals for the Troubies, three of which were during the playoff games.

    St. Francis junior Adithi Benush won the Delta League Singles title with a 6-3, 6-3 win over teammate Alisha Anwar. She has posted a 15-1 record this season.
  • Izzy Fauria, Cross Country (Oct. 9)

    Junior Isabella Fauria led the St. Francis cross country team at the Clovis Invitational, finishing 17th overall (18:16) as the Troubadours finished second overall in the championship race. Fauria has three top 10 finishes and has finished among the top 25 in all five races this season.
  • Kendall Houck, Water Polo (Sept. 24)
    September 24, 2018
    Junior Kendall Houck has been named the St. Francis Troubie Student-Athlete of the Week after scoring eight goals and recording a team-best 18 steals in the Capital Challenge last week. Overall, she tallied 12 goals on the week after scoring four in the win over Rio Americano on Sept. 20.
