LODI, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity 400-yard free relay finished the meet with a fifth-place finish and the Troubadours recorded seven Top-15 finishes at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming and Diving Championships.
Junior Emma Peters recorded the top varsity finish for the team with a seventh-place finish in the 200y freestyle, clocking 1:55.57 to finish a half second behind her prelim time. Peters improved her placing in the 100 butterfly, touching 11th overall in 58.13 dropping 0.63.
The 200-yard free relay team won the consolation final, dropping 1.57 seconds with Maria Corvacho Marrugo, Laura Freeworth, Meredith Garcia and Chloe Beebout.
Garcia improved with a 25.20 in the 50y freestyle to place 14th, while senior Hannah Parulan was 14th in the 200 individual medley in her final individual swim of her career.
Freshman Victoria Cao recorded two top-10 finishes to complete her first prep season, placing eighth in the 100 free (53.70) and 10th in the 100y breaststroke (1:06.59), dropping almost a second from her prelim time.
The Troubadours finished eighth with 95 points in the varsity competition.
In the Frosh/Soph meet, the defending champions posted several top swims led by Lauren Jones dropping 1.14 seconds in the 100 butterfly to finish 10th. Maddie Hoppa moved up to sixth in the 100y backstroke in 1:01.32 and Baya McIntosh was 13th in 1:03.78. The team of Ana Poarch-Twining, Elin Perry, Taja Suruki and Jenna Pimenta won the 200m free relay consolation in 1:45.97. The 200y medley relay opened the day with the best finish for the program, finishing fourth in 1:58.10.
