Swimming Places Sixth at the California Catholic School Challenge

SACRAMENTO, Calif - The St. Francis swimming places sixth in the California Catholic School Challenge and scored 127.50 points overall. The 200 yard medley relay placed seventh and scored 24 points coming in at 1:57.53 to head the team. The 400y freestyle relay team placed 11th in 4:01.68, scoring 14 points for the team.

In the 50y freestyle, freshman Meredith Garcia took 11th place in 26.03 and scored 5.5 points. Jenna Pimenta (27.36), Ruby Stevenson (28.68), Alyssa Jacobsen (29.28), and Kennedy Whitney (30.72) also swam the 50y freestyle for the Troubies. Garcia swam the 100y breaststroke in 1:12.59 along with Jaclynn Burgess (1:14.76) and Johanna Stevenson (1:20.78). Burgess swam the 200y individual medley in 2:26.07 and took 17th place.

In the 100y butterfly, Maria Corvacho Marrugo scored 11 points for the Troubies in eighth place (1:01.55) along with Maddie Hoppa (1:02.75) in 13th place who scored four points, and Lauren Jones (1:03.31) in 15th place, scoring two points for the team.

The St. Francis swimming team will compete in the Delta League Trials at American River College on April 11 at 2:15 p.m
