Robert Vela assumed the helm as head coach for the Junior Varsity Red Soccer Team for the 2018-19 season. Vela has been coaching soccer for 25 years. He previously served as the Boys freshman and Developmental coach at El Camino High School. He has also coached at River City United Soccer Club and as the coach at Fair Oaks Soccer Club coaching the U12 and U16 girls. He is currently at Capital Valley United Soccer club as the U12 boy’s soccer coach.

Vela currently resides in Carmichael with his wife, Wendi, his youngest daughter, Elena, and his youngest son Alex; his oldest daughter, Marina and oldest son, Robby Jr. are also Sacramento locals. Robert owns a local construction company, Big Valley Metals, a family business currently employing 3 generations.

Some of Velas qualifications are earning his NFHS Accreditations in fundamentals of coaching certification, soccer coaching certification, and concussion in sports certification. Vela has also earned his USSF F License.
