Troubie JV gets back on winning track
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Tayli Paeu-Lindgren posted a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds while senior Sydney Teoh and junior Lexi London also scored in double figures, leading St. Francis to a 64-31 win over Rocklin in the varsity nightcap of a Sierra Foothill League girls' basketball doubleheader Tuesday night.

The Troubadours snare their third consecutive win, improving to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Thunder dips to 8-8 for the year and remains winless in SFL games at 0-4.

Paeu-Lindgren shot 10-for-16 for the floor en route to her 10th double-double of the season. Teoh, a game removed from scoring her 1,000th career point, hit 6 of 11 overall including 2 of 5 from beyond the three-point arc for 16 points. She also grabbed six rebounds with six assists. London netted another 12 points to go with six boards and four assists.

Junior Laila Mendoza and sophomore Audrey Bashore each hit three field goals for point totals of seven and six, respectively.

The two teams played to an even 7-7 for the first four minutes before Teoh's nifty spin layup with 3:39 in the first period ignited a run of 15 unanswered for the remainder of the frame for a 22-7 edge. That margin grew to 34-16 at the halftime break, then swelled to 38-16 in the opening minutes of the third period thanks to buckets from Mendoza and Teoh.

Some 37 seconds into the fourth, Mendoza extended the SF lead to more than double Rocklin's score with her three-point play, setting the board at 50-24. The Troubies reached a 30-point lead of 56-26 at 5:40 in the fourth on London's made trey on the left side, then maintained no less than a 29-point edge for the rest of the contest.

The varsity win followed a 32-19 victory for St. Francis junior varsity. Jocelyn Dickinson posted team highs of 10 points and five steals, Emmy Cheatham added another nine points including her team's lone three-pointer, while Catherine Gustafson dominated the boards with 16 rebounds.

The Troubies stormed to an 8-2 lead through the first period before the Thunder battled back to an 8-8 tie early in the second. But Gustafson found Keanna Daneshvar wide open along the left block with five minutes left in the first half, restoring the SF lead for good. SF's 15-10 halftime lead grew to 20-10 in the third on a Dickinson drive and a Daneshvar three-point play. The Troubies led by at least three possessions down the stretch to pick up their first win since the Lincoln Invitational during the winter break.

The two St. Francis hoop squads split up later in the week, with the jayvees traveling to Oak Ridge for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday and varsity remaining at home to host the Trojans for a 5 p.m. tip on Friday.
