Grizzlies run-rule Troubies in return to SFL play
GRANITE BAY, Calif. – Junior Reese Lewis rapped out a double as one of four Troubadour hits while sophomore righthander Kinsley Imm settled down to three scoreless innings after falling into an initial 2-0 hole, but St. Francis surrendered two late-inning rallies to lose to Granite Bay by a 10-0 final in Sierra Foothill League fastpitch action Wednesday afternoon.
Bates leads Troubies at SFL diving championship
ROCKLIN, Calif. – Freshman Piper Bates amassed 315.65 points to finish fourth on the girls’ varsity 1-meter diving board at the Sierra Foothill League diving championships, held at Whitney High School Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Stella Cassidy followed two places back in sixth at 310.05, senior Maya Hamilton placed seventh (293.00) and sophomore Rose Buffleben took eighth (269.96) as the remaining Troubadours in the varsity competition.
Gandhoke, Menza lead Troubies at Halden Invite
DAVIS, Calif. – Sophomore Jasleen Gandhoke won the girls’ varsity 300-meter hurdles with a personal-record time of 47.61 seconds while finishing second in the 100 hurdles and high jump, while freshman Miya Menza runnered-up in both distance events, leading St. Francis at Davis Senior High’s Halden Invitational, held at Ron & Mary Brown Stadium Saturday.
Troubies come up short in two Saturday slugfests
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior center fielder Alexis McFarland hit a combined 7-for-9 with three extra-base hits, five runs scored and four more batted in, but St. Francis failed to turn 29 total hits into victories, dropping both ends of a non-league softball doubleheader at River City Saturday. The Troubadours fell to the host Raiders, 15-14, then lost a neutral-site game against former Delta League foe Pleasant Grove in the nightcap.
LAX honors seniors with huge win over Davis
MATHER, Calif. – Junior Keira Miles netted seven goals while seniors Karly Okamoto and Zia Smith added five and four, respectively, as St. Francis rolled past Davis, 17-7, in the varsity nightcap of a Sierra Foothill League varsity girls’ lacrosse doubleheader at Mather Sports Complex Tuesday night.
