Troubies' section run ends in semifinal

ELK GROVE, Calif. — Junior Mila Stojakovic tallied a team-leading 17 kills while senior liber Justine Pulmones scooped up 14 digs, but third-seeded St. Francis ultimately hit just .100 as a team in a four-set, 25-18, 25-20, 16-26, 25-12 loss at second-seeded Cosumnes Oaks in the semifinal round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Div. I girls volleyball tournament.

Stojakovic was the only Troubadour to hit in double digits on offense, and the only one to hit higher than .100 for the match.

SFHS led through most of the second set before CO took a late lead and cruised to the win and a 2-0 match lead behind the hitting of junior left-sider Jahniya Jackson. However, the Troubles fought back to the third-set win, thanks in part to an opening 5-0 run to the frame.

Nonetheless, St. Francis' passing game struggled late in the match, allowing the Wolfpack to take a dominating win in the fourth stanza. The Troubies now await their seeding in the CIF NorCal tourney, which will begin at home sites on November 9. The state and regional brackets will be announced on Sunday evening.
