Mlikotin, Garza earn Optimist All-Star selections

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Outside hitter Olivia Mlikotin and middle blocker Sophia Garza will represent St. Francis in the Sacramento Breakfast Optimist All-Star Volleyball match. Furthermore, the two Troubadours will play for a team coached by Alynn Wright and Bill Hanrahan, SF's varsity head coach and assistant coach, respectively.

Mlikotin, Garza, Wright and Hanrahan concluded a 2022 St. Francis volleyball season that featured a Delta League championship and the program's 21st overall trip to the Sac-Joaquin Section title match. Mlikotin and Garza were two of four Troubies to earn all-league nods, along with juniors Caroline Foraker and Jacqueline Smith.

The annual senior all-star match dates back to 1983, and is now sponsored by the Breakfast Optimist Club of Sacramento. The St. Francis crew will take part in the Large Schools contest, which begins immediately after the 11 a.m. Small Schools match, held this Sunday at Capital Christian High School. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors ages 65 and older, $5 for students and $3 for children under the age of 12. Match organizers also warn spectators that the California International Marathon will affect routes to the school, particularly Fair Oaks Boulevard (link for course map).
