JV Basketball Wins Woodcreek Winter Tournament

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – The St. Francis junior varsity basketball team won its third tournament of the preseason schedule by defeating Chico 51-43 in the finals of the Woodcreek Winter Tournament. It was the 10th consecutive win for the Troubies, who improved to 12-1 on the season.

Sophomore Frankie Evers was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Carolina Ingenito and Sarah Cloninger joined her on the all-tournament team.

St. Francis was led by the 10 points by Cloninger in the final and nine points by Evers in the finale.

The Troubies took control of the game in the second quarter, scoring 16 points as six different players scored led by the five points by Ingenito. Evers scored all of her nine points in the second half, while Cloninger had six of 10 her 10 to seal the victory.

Milan Baccay added a season-high seven points in the win with Ingenito finishing with six. Elizabeth Rosendahl also added six in the win.

The Torubies advanced to the championship with wins over Nevada Union (40-37) and Oak Ridge (44-40). Evers scored a game-high 12 points in the win over Oak Ridge with Ingenito connecting for 11. Natalie Graybill led the team with eight against NU.

The Troubies host Del Oro on Dec. 2 starting at 7:00 p.m.
