CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Sophomores Marissa Recio and Mia Hill each captured two varsity events and took part in two winning relays, while Alexis DeAngelis and Myra Slaughter performed similar feats in the junior varsity division, leading St. Francis to a 136-19 win over Elk Grove in a Delta League dual meet Wednesday at Jesuit High.
The Troubadours also prevailed in the JV scoring by an 85-33 final. The varsity scoring includes the diving competition held at Capital Divers in Rio Linda, with SF winning the maximum 13 points by default.
Recio won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of two minutes, 17.69 seconds, then later claimed first place in the 100 breaststroke at 1:13.49. She also swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay (1:57.39) and the leadoff segment of the 400 free relay (356.67). Hill led a 1-2-3 trifecta in the 200 free at 2:03.88, then followed with a win in the 100 fly with a 1:03.70. Hill also took part in the victorious medley relay and 200 free relay (1:45.98).
Slaughter, who made her season debut in Tuesday's Holy Splash dual against Christian Brothers, won the JV 50 free at 28.21 and the 100 back at 1:08.34. DeAngelis was the lone entrant in the JV 200 IM (2:27.49), then led a 1-2-3 Troubie sweep in the 100 free (1:01.39). Both Slaughter and DeAngelis were members of the winning 200 medley relay (2:04.69) to start the meet and the 400 free relay (4:11.00) to conclude the evening.
The St. Francis divers took part in a larger competition that included athletes from CB, Granite Bay, Roseville, Kennedy and Oakmont. However, only the Troubadours-Thundering Herd portion of the meet figured into the dual scoring. Sinclair Yadao (236.35) finished second overall to Falcon Phifey Boyers (243.85). Paige Vicente was third overall and second in the SF-EG dual at 193.85.
The Troubie swimmers host Cosumnes Oaks for another Delta League dual meet on Monday. Meet time is 3:30 p.m.
