Golf’s Ceci Fletcher Ready for Postseason after Best Round

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior golfer Ceci Fletcher shot a personal-best two-over par 74 to finish third at the last Delta League Center match. It was great mental preparation as she leads her teammates in the Sac-Joaquin Section Divisional round on Monday at Timber Creek Golf Course.

"This year has been one of the best golf seasons that I have had," said Fletcher. "I could not have asked to close out my high school golf career any other way."

Fletcher posted career bests for nine-hole and 18-hole averages this season. She also posted her best dual match score with a 37 against Davis and was medalist two times.

"Coach Kelli and Coach Chloe have really made it an amazing season," said Fletcher. "We have all done really well this season to make it a good year."

The 74 last week was a culmination of a four-year career that has produced four league championships.

"I went into the day wanting to make it a fun round," said Fletcher. "I did not want to stress myself out knowing it was my last regular season match. I went in not having any levels of stress so I just played hole by hole. It went really well for me."

The Troubies have lost just one match in her entire career.

"It has exceeded any expectations I had freshman year," said Fletcher of her SF career. "I have met some of the best people and coaches I know. I have made memories I will never forget in this game of golf."

The third-place finish also sealed her first selection to the All-Delta League team.

"I was really excited with the way I was playing and I wanted to make it a good round," said Fletcher. "I tried to keep my cool and wound up pulling through."

The postseason starts Monday with the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Tournament. The top six teams advance to the Masters. Fletcher has advice for her teammates. It is a shot gun start at 8 a.m.

"Going in without having any expectations or stress, you just want to have fun and have as good a round as you can," said Fletcher.

She does not plan on playing golf in college but hopes to get in the occasional intramural round. She is considering several schools in Southern California and plans to study biology.

"I am really excited to start a new chapter," said Fletcher.

But until then, she still has some chapters to write in the SF uniform.
