Four Troubies earn all-section accolades

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Ashlyn Brock and juniors Abigail Benavidez, Piper Brostrom and Sophia Santsche-Chavez earned second-team nods to the All-Sac Joaquin Section water polo team, as voted by the coaches during the section championship weekend.

Benavidez, Brock and Brostrom were three of the team's top four scorers with 59, 47 and 34 goals, respectively. Benavidez also led all Troubadours with 59 steals while adding 25 assists for another team high of 84 points. Brock chipped in another 28 assists with 32 steals. Brostrom, better known for her defensive play, tallied a team-leading 34 assists with 40 steals.

Meanwhile, Santsche-Chavez assembled perhaps the most prolific season by a goalkeeper in program history: 356 saves with just 194 goals against for a .647 save average. She also finished second on SF in both assists (31) and steals (48).

Together, the Troubies posted an 18-11 record for the year, and advanced a round in the CIF-SJS Division II championship tournament. 

The All-Delta League teams also rolled out over the weekend, with that foursome plus Miranda Ferguson earning first-team nods. The full list of St. Francis fall all-league honorees will be announced at GoTroubies.com later on Monday.
