Frosh Troubies sweep Eagles to open tripleheader

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Junior libero Jackie Smith picked up 17 digs while senior outside hitter Olivia Mlikotin added another 14 to go with four service aces, but St. Francis hit a combined .125 as a team in fall in four sets at Pleasant Grove, 25-20, 25-15, 7-25, 25-23 in Delta League volleyball action Tuesday night.

The Troubadours suffer their first varsity loss in Delta League play, moving to 8-1 in conference and 16-7 overall.

The younger SF teams fared better than their varsity sisters, with junior varsity prevailing in a split set, 25-14, 22-25, 15-9 battle, while the frosh squad won in straight sets, 25-18, 25-13.

Mlikotin also led the Troubies offensively, albeit with just eight kills on 28 swings. Caroline Foraker and Charlise Rowe each added seven kills. Middle blocker Lily Zeff helped St. Francis amass 10 total blocks, tallying four of her own.

No stats were available for the Troubie JV or frosh matches. The jayvees improved to 25-2 for the season, while the frosh moved to 27-4. All three teams return to action on Thursday for a road tripleheader at Elk Grove.
