Freshman Basketball Finishes Fifth at Folsom-Vista Classic

FOLSOM, Calif. – Oge Okoye scored 11 points to lead the St. Francis freshman basketball team to a 42-8 win over El Camino in the consolation final of the Vista-Folsom Freshman tournament on Saturday.

"We played man-to-man and played tight defense," said Head Coach Brian Montes. "Everyone got to play."

St. Francis went 2-1 in the tournament to improve to 6-3 overall on the season. The Troubadours lost to Del Oro in the opener before beating Franklin and El Camino.

Okoye scored nine of her 11 points in the third quarter as SF built a 36-8 lead. She scored 25 points over the three games, earning all-tournament honors for her play.

"Oge was really aggressive, got rebounds and worked hard to get her teammates involved," said Montes. "She had great games throughout the whole tournament. She was the one who deserved all-tournament."

Nine players scored in the game for the Troubadours, who held El Camino scoreless in the first and fourth quarters while allowing just four points in the second and third quarters.

St. Francis returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Woodcreek Winter Tournament against Nevada Union at 10 a.m.
