Junior Varsity Volleyball Wins Third Tournament, Improves to 30-0

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis junior varsity volleyball team won its third tournament of the season, taking the Carmichael Invitational Tournament of Champions Saturday with a 2-1 win over Ponderosa.

The Troubadours opened the day with wins over Mira Loma (25-8, 25-8) and Vista del Lago (25-11, 25-20) and then beat Cosumnes Oaks (25-15, 25-22). St. Francis defeating Bishop Manogue out Reno 25-9, 25-15 in the quarterfinals. The Troubies met up with Oak Ridge in the semifinals, facing the Trojans for the third time this season and second consecutive tournament. SF won in straight sets 25-18, 25-22.

In the finals, St. Francis dropped the opening set 25-18, just the third lost set of the season, but rebounded for a 25-11, 15-9 win.

St. Francis (30-0) also won the CIVT Preseason event and the Stockton Invitational. They have three games remaining starting with Sheldon on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
