JV Gold Wins Lady Pirate New Year’s Shootout Game, Bashore Named MOP

PITTSBURG, Calif. – Sophomore Grace Bashore was named Most Outstanding Player as the JV Gold basketball team posted a 56-38 win over McKinleyville.

Bashore scored nine points and was one of four players with nine or more points in the game. She scored four of her nine points in the 20-point first quarter as the Troubies took a 20-14 lead. Freshman JoJo Myers hit a pair of threes and May Hilger contributed five points in the first.

The offense stalled in the second as the Panthers took a 25-24 lead at the half.

SF took control in the third in holding the Panthers to four points as Emily Dusel scored four of her 11 points.

Myers finished with a team-best 13 points and Dusel added 11 points. Both Bashore and Hilger scored nine points.

St. Francis opens Delta League play on Friday at Cosumnes Oaks.
