ELK GROVE, Calif. – Freshman right-hander Kinsley Imm fired a five-inning one-hitter, while sophomore Alexis McFarland, senior Francesca Guerrera and sophomore Jaeya Leavitt each had two hits, boosting St. Francis to a 13-1 win over Cosumnes Oaks in Delta League softball action Friday afternoon.
The Troubadours improve to 15-7 for the year and 7-3 in league play.
Imm faced 18 batters total, surrendering only one unearned run, striking out five and walking just one. The lone run came on the heels of an infield error, with Marisol Gomez taking advantage with an RBI double to give the Wolfpack a 1-0 start. Imm walked one batter in the second but was perfect the rest of the way. She even struck out the side in the fifth to invoke the 10-run rule.
St. Francis pushed across six in the second inning, three in the third, then four in the fifth to set up the mercy rule. The second-inning rally came with hits from Leavitt, McFarland and Garcia, but also had the aid of three CO errors along the way. Leavitt again led off the third with a hit, then came all the way around on an Imm bleeder to right. Another Wolfpack error and second McFarland RBI single increased the SF lead to 9-1.
Then in the fifth, senior Kasey McAtee ignited the rally with a double to right. Taylor Lewis and McFarland each walked to load the bases for Krotine, who smacked her fourth career triple to right to boost the margin to 12-1. Guerrera followed with a double, scoring Krotine and increasing the Troubie lead to 13-1.
The junior varsity game between SF and CO was canceled.
St. Francis returns home for its penultimate league game against Franklin on Monday. The Troubies will honor their seniors prior the game: Garcia, Guerrera, Lewis, McAtee, Sorina Pometta, Kiley Shea, Taylor Trafican, Natalie Vigil plus team manager Mia Siino. Game time is 4 p.m. at Schuster Field.
