Joy Weems begins her first season as an assistant coach for the cross country and track and field programs.

Weems, who is from Fair Oaks, had a successful four-year career running at Sacramento State, ranking among the school’s all-time top 10 in 200 meters. She competed at the 2015 NCAA West Preliminary in 2015 in the 4x400-meter relay and helped the Hornets to the Big Sky Conference outdoor title.

She is a 2013 graduate of Del Campo High School where she competed in cross country and track and field. She qualified for the state meet in the 400 meters as a junior after winning the Capital Valley Conference title (also second in 200m). She won both events as a senior and placed second at the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. I meet and was fourth at the SJS Masters Meet.

She majored in kinesiology at Sacramento State, graduating in 2017.
