Cross Country Fourth at Mt. Sac, Wins Sophomore Race

WALNUT, Calif. – The St. Francis cross country team finished fourth in Div 1 & 2 Team Sweepstakes race at the Mt. Sac Cross Country Invitational at Mt. San Antonio College Saturday.

Sophomore Cate Joaquin led the team with a fifth-place finish in 17:52 over the three-mile course. Senior Isabella Fauria was 10th in 18:10.

St. Francis scored 140 points to trail team champion Great Oak (55 points), Saugus (118) and Simi Valley (137) in the team standings.

Sophomore Tatiana Cornejo was 32nd overall in 19:05 with junior Hanna Hekkanan 41st in 19:20. Senior Haley Silva crossed fifth win 19:39 in 52nd place. Freshman Simone DeBerry was 58th in 19:57.

St. Francis also had several highlights with teams in four different races on the day. The Troubadours won the D1&2 Sophomore race with 57 points to edge Great Oak with 62. The tam included sophomore Claire Silva (7th, 20:26), Peyton Carson (12th, 20:46), Nora Smith (14th, 20:56), Audrey Felsted (20th, 21:22), Abbie Rexroad (21st, 21:23) in the scoring five. Sophomore Allison Williams was 32nd.

Freshman Paige Quigley led four runners in the Div. 1&2 Freshman race, finishing in 20:50.

Junior Emma Hollenbach won the Division I Junior Varsity race in 20:31.

St. Francis will compete for the Delta League Championship on Saturday. The Troubies are the two-time defending champions.
