Volleyball Sweeps Franklin to Win 18th Straight, Regional and State Rankings Update

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The perfect start to the 2019 season continued Thursday as the St. Francis volleyball team posted a 25-7, 25-11, 25-13 win over Franklin to win their 18th straight match. It ties the mark set to start the 2005 season at 18-0.

"I think we did a really good job staying focused through the first two sets," said senior Jesiree Moral. "In the third set we slipped but came together to close out the match."

Alexa Edwards was one of 10 players to record a kill, leading the team with 12 kills. Junior Chloe Henning had seven kills, while Moral and Eichhorn combined for 21 assists. The Troubadours combined for 15 aces led by Eichhorn's five.

St. Francis improved to 8-0 in Delta League play. They play at the Chris Craft Invitational hosted by Oak Ridge on Saturday. Follow all the action on the #TroubieTakeover by junior Lauren Patella on the St. Francis Instagram page.

"There is going to be a lot of competition out there," said Moral of the Craft field. "We have to come in with a strong mindset and work hard in practice tomorrow."

RANKINGS UPDATE: The Troubadours are the top team in the Sacramento Bee weekly poll for the fourth consecutive week, while the program remained at No. 2 in the FitPro Go NorCal Top 20 this week for the second consecutive week. St. Francis improved to a season-best No. 8 in the Cal-Hi Sports State Top 20.
