Volleyball’s Edwards Named Delta League MVP Among All-League Selections

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Alexa Edwards was named the Delta League Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She ranked sixth in the state of California and led the Delta League in kills with 572, while leading the league in kills per set (4.9). Edwards was also second in hitting percentage and digs (431) in the league.

"It is an honor," said Edwards of her second MVP league recognition. "The award shows off what we did as a team. It is not an individual honor but something that represents my team. I am glad the coaches saw the hard work we put in to win the league and advance in the playoffs."

St. Francis (34-6) advanced to the CIF Northern California Regional semifinals before losing Bishop O'Dowd. The Troubadours defeated Valley Christian and Campolindo in the first two rounds and ranked No. 21 in the final MaxPreps state rankings. St. Francis also reached the Sac-Joaquin Section finals for the second consecutive season, losing to Oak Ride 3-2.

"We were sad that ended," said Edwards of the deep playoff run. "It was a great run and kudos to Bishop O'Dowd. It was a really run game. They are an amazing team. I am really proud of my team and we accomplished almost every goal we set out to do."
