Peter Grimes

Peter Grimes has been an assistant coach for the St. Francis Track and Field program since the 2016 season.

A native of San Francisco, Grimes was a four-time All-Pac-10 selection at UC Berkeley where was a World Record holder in the 4x400m hurdle relay. He is also a world champion in the 110 high hurdles and had a No. 1 Master’s world ranking in the 400m hurdles in 2014.

Grimes is the USA Track and Field Team Chiropractor. He served as the USATF Team Chiropractor for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and the 2003 World Championships in Paris, France. He has also worked several high-profile events including the 2000 and 2004 USA Olympic Trials in Sacramento and the 2000 Adidas Forever Challenge in Sydney, Australia.

Dedicated to teaching as well as competing, Dr. Grimes has volunteered his efforts as head coach for youth-oriented track clubs and is a fixture in the San Francisco Track & Field scene where he has worn the hats of meet director, official, and first aid coordinator. 

He was a volunteer coach for Division II Academy of Art where he helped the team to 32 NCAA All-America honors across the indoor and outdoor campaigns and the Knights achieved a total of 41 new program records (15 indoor, 26 outdoor).

Grimes and his wife Agnes are parents to daughter Chanel ’19 and Tifani ’04, the school record holder in the 100 meter hurdles. He was a teammate of Head Coach Rod Jett at Cal and 1982 graduate. He is president and CEO of Vital Course Chiropractic based in Berkeley and Sacramento.
