Track and Field Practice Information

Track and Field Practice Information
Please read on for practice information and other essential details.

Practice location: Jesuit High School

Practice start and end time: 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
*Please note, practice will start promptly at 3:45 p.m. We expect all girls to arrive on time.

Parking: We ask all girls who drive to use the parking lot on American River Drive.

Team meeting area: girls are to meet at the bleachers on the home side of the stadium.

Practice attire: girls are to be dressed and ready at 3:45 p.m. Proper running attire consists of sweatshirt and sweat pants and a light running top and shorts. Racing spikes are not necessary for the first three weeks of training but are recommended for track meets. Fleet Feet on J Street is a great place to start as they can assist the girls with a proper fitting and in choosing the correct shoe.
Workout equipment:
  1. GPS watch (distance athletes)
  2. Yoga mat (all athletes, for core work)
  3. Resistance bands (can be purchased at Target, Amazon, or a sporting goods store). Click the link for an example of the type of resistance bands you'll need - https://www.target.com/p/ gaiam-sb-loop-bands/-/A- 77430790
Closed practice policy: All St Francis and Jesuit practices are closed to all non-coaches or non-athletes. Please refrain from entering the stadium before, during, or after practice hours. If parents have any questions or concerns, please email them to Coach Rios.
Attendance: The attendance policy will be outlined in our team contract; however, I would like to give everyone advance notice: I expect a minimum of two week's notice for all planned absences. Not all requests for excused absences are created equal. Approval of a request for an excused absence and the number of days an athlete will be permitted to miss (excused or not) will depend on: the athlete's color group, upcoming events/practice plan, and the nature of your reasoning.

I appreciate you taking the time to read our practice information, and I look forward to seeing you all on February 10!

Coach Rios, RUN TO WIN!!!
