Alumna Crayne '13 Named CCCAA Diver of the Year

CUPERTINO, Calif. – Alumna and American River College diver Amy Crayne '13 was named the California Community College Athletic Association Diver of the Year after winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter titles at the CCCAA State Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at DeAnza College in May.

Crayne stole the show on Day 1 setting a state record and with a fabulous final dive to win the 1-meter board competition Thursday at De Anza College. Crayne needed a big score on her final dive and she got it with an average 7s across the board for 49 points from the seven judges with an outstanding execution of a front 1-1/2 full twist. It gave her 261.40 points to break the record set just last year by Cypress champion Alejandra Gomez (254.10).

She set her second record second on the 3-meter diving board, breaking an 11-year-old points record set by Sierra's Nikki Campora (263.05) with her new 266.30 mark.

Crayne is coached by her mother Dede Crayne, who also coaches the St. Francis divers. The elder Crayne was named to the California Community College Coach of the Year.

Amy Crayne was a four-year letter winner for the Troubadours, graduating in 2013. She was named team most valuable diver all four seasons.
