Soccer Closes Regular Season with Senior Game Win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – On a day that started with 11 seniors recognized before the game, three seniors scored in their final regular season home game as St. Francis posted a 3-0 win over Franklin to close the regular season.

"We had great goals today and Franklin is a tough opponent," said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson '86. "It was really nice to get those goals and get some breathing room."

Ari Spence scored her second goal of the season early in the first half off a cross by Jackie Stanco to give the Troubadours the lead.

"We had some good momentum and we had a good corner kick from Jackie," said Spence. "It was hectic in front of the net and I was able to have the last touch."

St. Francis (18-2-3) got insurance goals in the second half by Micayla Ratukalou and Emily Billena to put the finishing margin on their seventh consecutive win. It was the sixth of the year for Ratulalou and first for Billena.

"What a great group of people," said Robinson of her seniors. "Grace and Marli have been here since the beginning. It is a nice bunch of great people and nice kids."

St. Francis, the defending CIF NorCal champion, awaits Sac-Joaquin Section playoff bracket announcements on Friday.
