JV Red Soccer Wins 5-1 Behind Hat Trick by Holden Meek

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Holden Meek scored three first-half goals for her first career hat trick in a 5-1 win over Ponderosa on Thursday.

"It was so exciting getting my first hat trick of my soccer career," said Meek. "I am really happy it is on this team because I love contributing."

Meek ranks second on the team with 10 goals and 21 points on the season, scoring in her sixth game on the season and recording her third multi-goal game.

Meek scored in the third, 29th and 33rd minutes of the first half. The first goal came off assists by Grace Heisinger with the seocnd by Anna Karlshoej and third by Bella Roses. Karlshoej added the second goal off the second assist by Heisinger.

"I think we have got so much better as a team," said Karlshoej. "We have made so many new friends so it has been great to connect on the field."

Goalie Rory Peters played the first half before switching jerseys to take the field, scoring early in the eighth minute of the second half. It was her fifth goal of the season, tying for third on the team.

"It was a team effort and everyone on my team knows I can get a goal," said Peters. "If we have a good lead we can get some insurance and I can have some fun on the field."

The JV Red team is 10-4-2 on the season, winning their fifth straight game. The Troubadours finish the season with their final home game against Rocklin on Monday and a road game at Bella Vista on Feb. 7.
