USC Selects Alumna Anna Gregg '15 as DII National Scholar Player of the Year

KANSAS, Mo. - United Soccer Coaches (USC) has announced that senior forward Anna Gregg (St. Francis '15) of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team has been selected as the 2018 Senior College Women's Scholar Player of the Year for Division II. Gregg has become the first Mountain Lion in program history to receive this award.

The United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Year and National Scholar Player of the Year awards recognize outstanding individuals from the association's All-America and Scholar All-America teams at the youth through college ranks.

The 2017 transfer from Colorado College has made her mark in UCCS Women's Soccer Program History after her astounding 2018 season, to close out her collegiate career. Gregg was a key offensive piece in the number one scoring offense in the South Central Region, netting a single season program record 15 goals and tallying a single season program record 35 points. Gregg's offensive stat line over her two seasons as a Mountain Lion place her within the program's all-time top 10 in goals, assists, and points as she currently ranks third in goals (21), tenth in assists (8), and fourth in points (50). These offensive accomplishments during her 2018 campaign came to be recognized not only on a conference level, but on the regional and national level as well.

The Sacramento, Calif. native received awards such as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year, Division II Conference Commissioners Association South Central Player of the Year, and USC All-American First Team. But more importantly, Gregg was able to balance her offensive dominance on the field with her studies in the classroom by achieving a 3.99 GPA as an Exercise Science major. By getting it done on the field and in the classroom at a high level, Gregg earned awards that include RMAC All-Academic Player of the Year, Google Cloud Academic All-American, and now USC Senior College Women's Scholar Player of the Year.

Gregg is one out of five Mountain Lions to claim honors as both an All-American and an academic All-American in the same season in department history, but the first Mountain Lion in program history to earn both awards in a single season.

National Players of the Year and National Scholar Players of the Year were honored for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Jan. 12, 2019 at McCormick Place West in Chicago.
