SACRAMENTO, Calif - Sophomore lacrosse player Sophia Gorona was named the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for the week of March 17-23, 2019.
Gorona scored two goals and had three assists on Friday against Gunn High School where the team won 14-4. Saturday, Gorona scored eight goals and had an assist for the Troubies against Castilleja in Palo Alto. She led the team to a 14-10 win, playing a major role in the Troubie's undefeated weekend in Palo Alto.
Gorona said, "It feels great to score against a good opponent. It was a really good team win. It is rewarding to see our hard work pay off and to come out on top after a competitive game. I am most looking forward to improving as a team each week and playing our rivals from last year."
The St. Francis lacrosse team plays Rio Americano this Thursday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at Rio Americano High School.
