OAKLAND – Junior Judy Cates and sophomore Sophia Gorona each scored five goals to help St. Francis defeat Oakland Tech 19-7 Friday night on the road.
The Troubadours jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first half. Junior Grace Barger scored the opening goal for SF just a 1:02 into the game in her first game with the team since helping the soccer team to the CIF NorCal title just six days ago. She finished with two goals and a team-best three assists.
Senior Jade Borg, Cates and Gorona added two goals in the first half. Sophomore Maggie Price, who also was part of the soccer team's championship run, added a goal in the half.
In the second, the Troubadours extended the lead with 10-goal half. Cates and Gorona led the team with three goals in the half. Sophomore Sophia Bailey and senior Jorie Keitges added goals with Price and Barger adding their second each in the game.
St. Francis (2-0) travels to Tamalpais in Mill Valley on Tuesday before hosting a pair of games next weekend against Vista del Lago in their league opener and Campolindo in a none-league game.
