DAVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis golf team remained undefeated on the season with a first-place finish in the second Delta League Center match of the season at Wildhorse Golf Course on Monday. The Troubadours won their second center match of the season and 10th consecutive.
Senior Ceci Fletcher led the team with an eight-over par round of 80 to finish fourth overall in the league field. She carded a 39 on the front nine and 41 on the back to help the team to the win, recording a team-best three birdies on her round.
Overall, St. Francis had all five scoring players in the 80s and among the top 11 players in the field.
Junior Haanya Niazi, the reigning GoTroubies.com Player of the Week, shot an 81 with a 43-38 day. She recorded nine pars on the day and a bride. On her back nine, she was solid with just three bogeys and a par to post her 38.
Senior Nashla Aguero was sixth overall with her 85 and classmate Amanda Siy was one stroke back with an 86 to record a tie for seventh.
Freshman Julia Geer, who lives in Davis, battled to an 89 to finish 11th overall. After a 53 on the front nine slowed by a tough first five holes (+15), she found her swing on the sixth hole to finish the front with a pair of pars and two bogeys. On the back she strung together six straight pars on holes 10-15 and finished off the run with a birdie on 277-yard 16th-hole. She posted a par 5 on 17 and bogey on 18 to post an even-par 36, 17 strokes better than her front nine.
St. Francis completes dual match play against Sheldon on Wednesday at Wildhawk Golf Course and complete the regular season on Monday for the final Center match.
