Basketball Opens with Foundation Win over West Campus

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis basketball team posted a 76-62 win over West Campus behind four players in double figures and 11 three-pointers in the Sac-Joaquin Section Foundation game.

Senior Mia Fleming-Mullins led all scorers with 21 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double effort out of the gate.

"I thought we played really well," said Fleming-Mullins. "We brought it together as a team and played really well."

The Troubadours led 14-13 after the first quarter as both teams settled into the contest. Senior Nicole Rovera, who finished with 15 points, hit a pair of three-pointers in the second to pace the team, while Jasmine Lee added a triple as SF built a 38-27 advantage at halftime.

Lee heated up in the third with three triples as SF held on to the double-digit lead 60-49.

"We did absolutely incredible," said Lee, who finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with four triples. "We came out really strong and fast and we never lost our momentum and I think that is what helped us win the game."

The Troubadours shot 50 percent from beyond the arc and 21 assists to just 12 turnovers. Junior Mackenzie Le led the team with eight assists and contributed six points.

St. Francis travels to Acalanes for the season opener on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
