JV Basketball Defeats Del Oro 45-41

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Natalie Graybill scored a career-high 18 points to lead the St. Francis junior varsity team to a 45-41 win over Del Oro on Wednesday. It was the 11th consecutive win for the team.

"It was really fun to contribute, especially making the threes," said Graybill. "The energy improved and we pulled out the victory."

Graybill scored 13 of her game-high 18 points in the second half, pushing the Troubadours to the win in a tight game.  She played in front of her sister, alumna Adrienne '18, who played for the program for four seasons.

"It was fun and she had not seen me play in a while," said Graybill. "It was good to play good.

St. Francis (13-1) and Del Oro were locked in a close game throughout the night with teams exchanging the lead in the second half.

Sophomore Franke Evers scored all her points in the final quarter, hitting a basket and going 3-f0r-3 at the line in the final minutes.

"It was definitely nerve-wracking," said Evers, who was the MVP of the Woodcreek Winter Tournament last week. "I am really glad we made those shots because I don't think we could have pulled it out without them."

The Troubadours improved to 13-1 heading into the start of Delta League play on Friday.

"We are really confident coming off the preseason with a good record," said Evers. "We are really looking forward to starting league play."

First tip is at 5:30 p.m. against Cosumnes Oaks on Friday.
