Katie Vargas will enter her second season as a St. Francis swimming assistant coach.

She graduated from St. Francis in 2010, swimming all four season on the varsity team and played four years of basketball for the Troubadours. In 2014, Vargas graduated from Alma College and swam four years for their varsity team, breaking two school records.

After graduating from Alma College, she became their assistant swim coach for the 2014-2015 season. Vargas moved back to Sacramento in 2015 and currently works as an HR specialist for a healthcare staffing agency and on the side coaches swimming. She has coached the Rio Del Oro Rapids, and now coaches swimming for the Natomas Aqua Bears and the American River Master swimming team.
