Softball and Swimming have schedule changes this week due to the Elk Grove School District closing. Softball will no longer play at Laguna Creek on Monday as the game has been canceled and has added games at Vista del Lago in Folsom on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. for both varsity and junior varsity teams. The swimming meet scheduled against Sheldon on Wednesday has been canceled.
Seniors Elise Urkov and Patricia Sweeney were honored as the Booster Club Scholar-Athletes of the Year, while Myra Anwar and Jade Borg received the Booster Club Leadership Award.
The St. Francis varsity 400-yard free relay finished the meet with a fifth-place finish and the Troubadours recorded seven Top-15 finishes at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming and Diving Championships.
Junior Emma Peters and freshman Victoria Cao qualified for “A” finals at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming and Diving Trials held Thursday at Tokay High School.
Nine St. Francis seniors have made commitments to play collegiate sports this fall and were recognized at a ceremony at the school, bringing the total to 23 student-athletes for the Class of 2019. The Troubadours who signed on April 17 represent seven sports (basketball, cross country, lacrosse, rowing, swimming, tennis and water polo) and will be attending schools in four states (California, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington).
The St. Francis High School Athletic department will be having a Signing Day celebration event on Wednesday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m. in the CLC for NLI/Commitment Day to recognize our Troubadours who are going on to play sports in college next fall.
The St. Francis swimming team recorded 15 top-eight performances to advance to the top final and qualified all three relays at the Delta League Swimming Trials on Thursday at American River College.
The St. Francis swimming team won Holy Splash on Tuesday over Christian Brothers in convincing fashion. Varsity won 125-45 and Frosh/Soph Troubies posted a 104-58 victory over their rivals.
Freshman Victoria Cao won two individual events and anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay to lead the St. Francis swimming and diving team to victories over Cosumnes Oaks, Elk Grove and Sheldon.
