SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Chloe Smith was named the team Most Valuable Player at the Softball team banquet held Friday ahead of the team's playoff opener on Monday.
Smith, who signed to play at Villanova, has hit .557 with seven home runs and 36 RBI this season for the Troubadours. She ranks second in the Delta league in batting average and leads the league in home runs. She has recorded 15 multi-hit games on the season.
Freshman Amy Abueg was named the Most Improved Player, hitting .321 in her first season on the team as a freshman.
Senior Gabbi Guerrera and Arden Hatch were tabbed the Most Inspirational Players. Guerrera has hit .281 this season, while Hatch is 5-4 on the bump in 15 appearances with seven starts.
Junior Abby Konigsfeld, who is out this season with an injury, received the Team Spirit Award. Senior Caitlin Caldwell received the Delta League Sportsmanship Award.
Isabella Roa-Rodriguez was the Junior Varsity Most Valuable Player. Holly Grenke was Most Improved, while Alexa Hurd received the Most Inspirational and Emma Houle was the Team Spirit recipient.
