Freshman Hope Jenkins Pitches Shutout over Davis

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Hope Jenkins threw seven scoreless innings to lead St. Francis to a 2-0 win over Davis in the Delta League opener for the team.

Jenkins (3-1) had 11 strikeouts and no walks while allowing just four hits in the contest. She allowed a leadoff double before retiring 11 straight and then just single hits in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings.

Senior Chloe Smith provided all the offense Jenkins needed with a run-scoring double in the third, scoring freshman Amy Abueg who had reached on a bunt single. The Troubadours added an insurance run in the fifth when Daniella Guerrera scored on a passed ball. She had doubled with one out and was sacrificed to third by Abueg.

St. Francis (5-3) hosts Rosemont on Tuesday before returning to league play at Cosumnes Oaks on the road on Wednesday. SF hosts Franklin on March 22 to complete the week.
