Softball Defeats Lowry on Five-Run Second, Davis Homer

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Daniella Guerrera went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two knocked in two to help the St. Francis softball team to a 8-1 victory of Lowry from Winnemuca, Nev.

The Troubadours scored five in the fifth to take control of the game. Guerrera had a run-scoring single to push the lead to 3-0 in the inning. She came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Bella Valentine.

Guerrera added a run scoring single in the sixth and then scored on Sage Davis' first home run of the season.

Senior Catie Caldwell and Arden Hatch combined to hold Lowry to one run on five hits. Caldwell had eight strikeouts over four innings, while Hatch recorded four in her three.

St. Francis plays in the Franklin preseason tournament this weekend. Varsity Softball has two games at the Sac Softball Complex, Field 2. Game 1: vs McQueen HS (NV) at 3:15pm and Game 2: vs River City HS at 5:00pm.
