Steve Shaff begins his sixth year as the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Information at St. Francis Catholic High School. He is responsible for all communications and social media efforts for the Troubadour athletics department while serving as the sport supervisor for the St. Francis volleyball and cross country and track and field programs, assisting the athletic director in the daily operations of the department.

He joined the St. Francis staff in August 2013 from Northern Arizona University where he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations for 13 seasons.

Shaff helped design and produce the St. Francis athletics website GoTroubies.com in October 2018 in partnership with Presto Sports. During his tenure the Troubies have had 120 student-athletes sign to play sports with collegiate programs. He has launched the successful St. Francis athletics Instagram social media platform while spearheading the growth of the reach of the schools other social media pages.

During his time in Sacramento, he has served on the 2017 NCAA Basketball Tournament staff hosted at the Golden1 Center and USA Track and Field Championships at Sacramento State.

Prior to St. Francis, Shaff, who was a Presidential Achievement Award winner in 2011 as recognized by NAU President Dr. John Haeger, oversaw the daily operations of the women's golf and track and field programs in addition to his duties regarding the media publicity efforts for the department's 15 varsity sports, including the day-to-day media efforts for the football, men’s basketball and women’s golf programs. During his tenure at NAU, he worked with several Olympians, All-Americans and NCAA Postgraduate Scholars. He oversaw the promotion of former Lumberjack Lopez Lomong, who was the flag bearer for the United States Olympic team at the Beijing Olympics. Lomong was featured during the 2007-08 academic year in USA Today, The New York Times, HBO Sports, The Today Show, CNN, ESPN and ESPN the Magazine.

Shaff helped basketball player Cameron Jones earn All-America honors and finalist distinction for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award in 2011, earning a trip to the Final Four and an appearance in the Reese’s College All-Star game.

In 2005-06, he coordinated all-star campaigns that helped quarterback Jason Murrietta finish second in the Walter Payton Award voting, while three players earned All-America honors. Shaff also assisted basketball player Stephen Sir earn one of eight spots in the Midas Touch Three-point Challenge at the Final Four in Atlanta.

He directed the department's website redesign that was launched in July of 2009 with Presto Sports, handling the project from initial design to launch. The media relations office also coordinated the department’s social media efforts.

During his tenure, NAU played host to six Big Sky Conference Championships including the 2005 Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Championships and a National Invitation Tournament game. He has also served on the media staffs at the 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009 NCAA West Regional basketball tournaments and two first- and second round NCAA sites for both the men's and women's tournaments. He was a member of the logo design team that developed the athletics logo launch in August of 2005.

Shaff came to NAU from Gainesville, Fla., where he served as an assistant sports information director at the University of Florida for eight years. He served as the primary contact for the Gators' nationally-ranked baseball team as well as working with the football, men's golf and swimming and diving programs. During his tenure, he worked the 1996 National Championship game at the Fiesta Bowl, the 1994 Final Four and two College World Series appearances by Gator squads (1996, 1998). He was also a member of the tournament media relations staff for the 1999 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships and numerous NCAA regional events hosted by Florida in the sports of baseball and volleyball.

In addition, Shaff oversaw the production of several publications for the office including seven voted among the top-five "Best in the Nation" by CoSIDA. His design for the 2000 Gator men's golf media guide cover was named the "Best in the Nation". He also played an important role in the promotional efforts for 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, 1996 Jim Thorpe Award winner Lawrence Wright and 1998 national college baseball player of the year Brad Wilkerson.

During the summer of 1996, Shaff served as a writer for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. He also was an intern with the San Antonio Spurs during the 1993-94 NBA season, working with All-Stars David Robinson and Dennis Rodman.

An Arizona native, Shaff graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1988 and the University of Arizona with a degree in business and public administration in 1992. He was a member of CoSIDA from 1992-2013 and served on the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Committee from 1995-2013. He has served as a Little League coach and enjoys playing golf. He served as an extra in the filming of Major League in Tucson.
