Troubadours Claim Sac-Joaquin Section Commissioner’s Cup, Delta League All-Sports Title

LODI, Calif. – The St. Francis athletic program was named the Commissioner's Cup winner as the top all-around athletic program in the Section based on comprehensive excellence in interscholastic competition.

"We are grateful to the Sac-Joaquin Section office for this recognition," said Athletic Director Mark McGreevy. "It's a significant achievement that reflects the dedication and efforts of a great many people, most especially our talented Troubadour student-athletes.  We extend hearty congratulations to our Troubies, for their impressive athletic achievements but more importantly how they represent our beloved school community with grace, sportsmanship, sisterhood, and a healthy competitive spirit.  Congratulations are also in order for our extraordinary coaches for their leadership and guidance of our teams as well as our hard working and caring athletics support staff and our eternally supportive SF families.  It truly is great to be an SF Troubadour!"

St. Francis earned 30 points for the girl's crown. The Troubadours won Section championships in cross country and track and field, breaking a two-year run of the Davis Sr. girls winning the Commissioner's Cup. Runner-up Whitney was seven points back.

The Troubies won three section titles during the 2018-19 season, winning the cross country and Division I and Masters titles in track and field. SF also recorded section runner-up finishes in golf, volleyball, water polo, tennis and soccer.

The winners are determined by a points system that includes five points for a Section championship, three points for a Section runner-up placing, two points for making the SJS semifinals or placing third and one point for placing fourth in a team-place finish sport.

On the boy's side, Jesuit earned 37 points to claim the crown. The Marauders were led by Section championships in cross country, soccer and track and field.

The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section oversees high school athletics for 197 schools and 225,000 students. Its geographic boundaries stretch from Merced in the south, Grass Valley in the North, Napa to the west and the Nevada state line to the east. The Section is the second largest of California's 10 athletic sections.

The Troubadours also claimed the Delta League girl's all-sports title for the second consecutive season. St. Francis claimed league titles in cross country, golf, tennis, volleyball and track and field.
